5 Simple Tips for Healthier Skin

Healthy skin

These simple tips can leave you with healthier skin:

1. Cleanse: Removing dirt, sweat, and bacteria is crucial to keeping your skin healthy. Use warm water rather than hot water and limit your shower time to 15 minutes or less to avoid stripping healthy oils from your skin. Make sure to gently remove your makeup at the end of the day.

2. Moisturize: Make sure your moisturizer suits your skin type. If you have dry skin avoid alcohol-based products. If you have oily skin avoid oil-based products and use water-based one’s instead. Some people with oily skin don’t need moisturizer: if your skin feels tight 20 minutes after bathing, then you probably do.

3. Have a balanced diet: Drinking plenty of water and eating right helps keep your body healthy inside and out.

4. Sun protection: Not only does exposure to UV rays increases a person’s risk of skin cancer, it also affects the elastin in the skin, which leads to wrinkles and sun-induced skin ageing. Avoid the sun during high intensity hours. Wear protective clothing. Remember that tightly woven fabrics offer better protection than loosely woven fabrics. If you must be out in the sun, use sunscreen.

Oily, tanned skin can be treated with a variety of natural remedies. Mix gram flour or besan, a pinch of turmeric, a few drops of lemon juice and curd to make a pack. This helps reduce blemishes and pigmentation caused by sunburn.

5. Get a good night’s sleep: Poor sleep can develop into a cycle which leaves you with dark circles and dull skin. Yoga and physical exercise reduce stress and create a healthy tiredness for better sleep. Aerobic exercise increases oxygen circulation in the body, which helps keep your skin healthy and glowing.

5. Avoid smoking and drinking : Research shows that smoking alone ages skin. Smoking reduces the skin’s natural elasticity by promoting the breakdown of collagen and also reducing the amount that is produced. Drinking alcohol can make your body and skin dehydrated, leaving the skin looking old and tired.
